“Oh, what a wonderful world…”
Fine work, surprising art & crafts, good people
‘Maison Éclectique’ is the name of our impressively beautiful listed building in Bruges (Belgium) and refers to both the style of the building and the content of the program.
‘Maison Éclectique’ offers – after a two year restauration period – a home and a gallerie for art, design and architecture.
‘Maison Éclectique’ starts in collaboration with international editor Desplans with a presentation of carefully selected quality prints by Maison Éclectique and Desplans of never before published architectural drawings from the Benelux. The editions are printed in a limited edition on quality and durable paper and come with a certificate signed by the architects. The prints are offered in the webshop of Desplans.com and by Maison Éclectique at a number of events, pop-ups and galleries in the Benelux.
ARCHITECTURE with capital letters
Architects and designers are constantly producing creative drawings and designs. Only a small percent of these makes it into the public domain, although they are an important part of the profession. There are hundreds of sketches, photographs, collages, floor plans, watercolors, cross-sections and models in architect’s offices… of unfinished architecture or design who are the abstract and/or stylized beginnings of a project.
Desplans in collaboration with ‘Maison Éclectique’ has collected recent designs and archival material from Benelux architects. These artworks are offered today as authenticated, signed and numbered limited editions. This is a new way of giving life to the designs of architects and designers.
We want to show what has never been shown before and above all bring architecture closer to the general public.
For the selection of architectural drawings, plans, watercolors, photographs, etc. ‘Maison Éclectique’ & Desplans works together with the VAi (Flemish Institute for Architectural archives, Antwerp), the CIVA (Centre International pour la Ville, l’Architecture et le Paysage, Brussels), Jeanne et Charles Vandenhove Foundation, UGent and the Design Museum Ghent.
The first selection includes the following names: Doorzon Interieurarchitecten, architect Theo De Meyer, architect Gaston Eysselinck (1907- 1953), architect Koen Deprez and architect Charles Vandenhove (1927 – 2019).
